Welcome back Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School families and welcome all
new Oak Lawn – Hometown Middle School families. My name is Kate Kazeneskie and I
am the PTSA President for the 2015-16 school year. I would like to encourage parents,
teachers, students, and community members to join the OLHMS PTSA. By joining the
PTSA, you are showing that you support Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School and that
you want to make a difference in the lives of our children. The PTSA is a great
opportunity for students and parents to learn about the happenings at OLHMS and
throughout the district. PTSA is also a great place to meet new people and network.
The PTSA is a non-for-profit organization. It is open to everyone. The PTSA
plays an important role in our children’s school. We offer extra-curricular activities, as
well as some fundraisers. The PTSA works together in the best interest of our children.
By joining the PTSA you are not being forced to do anything you do not want to do. The
PTSA depends on our volunteers. Some of you may want to volunteer on a regular basis,
some for a short period, and some only for special events, but all of you are vital for a
successful PTSA.
Many of you may have learned that World’s Finest Chocolate has acquired the
Market Day brand. As a result Market Day’s monthly grocery and event fundraising
program has retired. A selection of Market Day products will continue to be sold at GFS
store locations while supplies last. In the months of July and August, OLHMS will
receive 10% profit on all Market Day products purchased in GFS stores. With that being
said, the PTSA will have to look into new areas to relinquish the lost funds of Market
Day. These funds help with the various events and programs for our students. One
simple way we can continue to raise funds is through the Box Tops for Education
program. Please remember to save those Box Tops and send into school!
I am very excited for the year ahead and getting to know you. I welcome any
ideas, comments and concerns. Let’s make the 2015 - 2016 school year the best ever!
Thank you,
Kate Kazeneskie
