YHA’s mission:
To inspire all, especially
young people, to broaden
their horizons, gaining new
knowledge and independence,
through new experiences of
adventure and discovery.
It’s something we’ve been doing
as a charity for 85 years.
Ways to stay with us…
As a charity we reinvest everything we do and
make into our network of over 160 hostels,
bunkhouses, camping pods and
campsites, in stunning rural, coastal and
urban locations available at amazingly
affordable prices.
Achieving our mission…
• Great value accommodation for all
o 1.8m overnight stays, from solo travellers and
families to school groups and international tourists
• YHA Summer Camps
o 649 10-19 year olds engaged in outdoor adventure
activities
• YHA School Trips
o
More than 150,000 school and college pupils
benefit annually from YHA’s accommodation and
activities
• Fundraising
o 9,500 young people from disadvantaged
backgrounds benefited from our Breaks for Kids
fund
o Life long supporters donated almost £500,000 in
legacies last year, supporting hostel developments
• Volunteering
o 171,000 hours contributed by 3,000 volunteers,
from gardening help to hostel management
“
Without YHA so many children
would have missed out on a
once in a lifetime opportunity.

We rely on help from members and
donors to support the work we do
through Breaks for Kids.
Donations, legacies and grants also help
keep our hostels up to standard so we can
continue to deliver unique experiences and
a warm welcome.
Thanks to our supporters, we have been
able to invest a whopping £21 million into
our hostel network in the last 3 years.
Just some of our recent investments:
•
YHA Black Sail
•
YHA Boggle Hole
•
YHA Hadrian’s Wall at The Sill
