General hints:

1. Be sure to carefully follow the
directions and format described on the
course webpage: link. This page also
has links to a few tutorials to help you
get started on composing a webpage.
2. You can get specific help by calling
or visiting the friendly people at the
UNR help desk. Or, visit the tutorial
sites listed on the website instructions.
3. Don’t wait until the last minute to
learn the mechanics of composing a
webpage. I actually don’t know that
much myself, so if you are close to the
deadline, and are having major
problems, I won’t be able to help. I will
be happy to help with any
developmental biology questions that
you have.
4. You are free to customize any parts
of the template.
5. Inserting a picture: in Word, you can
draw (View, Toolbars, Drawing); paste
pictures (Insert, Picture, From file;
include your copyright permission, if
necessary). The picture can be resized,
and other properties changed.
Important: the resolution of your
pictures must be fairly low.
6. Setting up a link to another website:
open up the other site with your web
browser, select the http address, then
copy. Open up your editing window:
Insert; Hyperlink, then paste the address
into the address box.)
7. When you are done editing, delete
this top table, as well as the general
notes of instruction included below.
8. Save your page as an html file.
Check this file out carefully by opening
it up with Netscape or Explorer, and
make sure that your layout and graphics
work as a webpage.
9. Post the page on a webserver. Copy
the http address, and send this address to
me by email.
