59-B-13 TABLED INDEFINITELY 3-7-16 UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-EAU CLAIRE STUDENT SENATE CLASSIFICATION __ AMENDING SECTION 4 OF THE STUDENT SENATE BYLAWS_ __ ___ ____________ ________ _____ NUMBER 59-B-13 DATE INTRODUCED BY February 29, 2016 __________ _ __ __________________ WHEREAS, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Student Senate is the 1 representative government of the student body; and WHEREAS, the Student Senate is dedicated to addressing and resolving the 3 4 _ RYAN RING, ON-CAMPUS SENATOR; ABIGAIL KIELMAN, CHIEF OF_ STAFF; AND BRANDEN YATES, ON-CAMPUS SENATOR 2 _____ needs and issues of the student body; and 5 WHEREAS, for the student body to identify the best individuals to meet their 6 needs, prospective Student Senator’s must take out petitions prior to the election; 7 and 8 WHEREAS, the implementation of online voting allows a disproportionate 9 amount of votes to be cast relative to the petition signatures a prospective Student 10 Senator must receive; and 11 WHEREAS, in order to ensure outreach to the student body the number of 12 signatures a prospective Student Senator must have on their petition should be 13 increased; and 14 WHEREAS, those changes are reflected in Attachment “A;” 15 BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate adopt 16 the changes addressed in Attachment “A” to the Student Senate Bylaws; and 17 BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that upon passage, President Wrasse transmit a 18 copy of this bill to Dr. James Schmidt, Chancellor; Dr. Patricia Kleine, Provost/Vice 19 Chancellor; Dr. Beth Hellwig, Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs; Dr. Joseph Abhold, 20 Dean of Students; Mitch Freymiller, Chair, University Senate; and Kristen 21 Hendrickson, Budget and Resource Planning.
