ACTION ITEMS
 Minutes from April 13 2007 approved by consensus.
 Approval of the Agenda with addition of Regulation R-7135 by consensus
 Rick Schubert gave a first read of The Resolution Regarding the Impacts on Programs
and Course Offerings of Compressed Calendar Implementation. Minor edits: change of
the word insists to recommends and a clause such as, “until there is evidence which shows
the enrollment problems are not temporary ones associated with change in scheduling.”
There may also be external factors which impact enrollments such as bus schedules,
childcare, K-12 schedules, etc. These could be addressed in a cover letter as well,
without changes to the resolution.
 First Read for Community College Initiative was read by G. Hodgkinson. C. Van Patten
felt the strike out was too conservative and that this makes it sound like we should not
campaign. He encourages us to work for the passing of this Initiative. It was moved and
seconded to waive the rules for first and second read. Primary motion to support the
resolution was moved, seconded, and passed.
 Please send any student success stories to Chuck to help in passing the
Initiative.
BRIEF REPORTS
President’s Report—Hodgkinson
 Jamey spoke about Plenary and the passing of resolutions. The resolutions which we had
discussed prior to the session all passed or failed according to the interests we had
expressed. He encourages Senators to attend Plenary if given the opportunity in the
future.
 Lanny Herzberg will be honored on May 17th at the Recognition Ceremony/A Senate
resolution needs to be written prior to then. Please contact Lisa Marchand with Lanny
information that you think should be included.

Georgine went to the Vice Chancellor Impressions group. There were only two
candidates to meet, but she felt one was much more experienced than the other. Expect
the Chancellor to make this announcement in the next week or so.
Assessment Discussion Update—Hodgkinson
 Assessment task force met today and she has a lot of information which will be on the
Agenda for the next meeting. She did say that the task force feels they need to become a
little more formal in their work. Marybeth Buechner, CASSL Faculty Leader, is an
obvious choice for one of the co-chairs but we would like an additional faculty leader on
this project. N. Wellsfry nominated Dana Wassmer and the senate unanimously agreed.
Thank you, Dana!
Ed Initiative Update—Nye
 We met with other campuses as a team, and felt that we made an excellent showing.
 An overview of each of the programs will be given, as well as an in depth presentation on
the Freshman Seminar with statistics.
 A student will also come to add their voice to the presentation.
 Presentation will be given to the Board of Trustees for LRCCD on May 16th at American
River College.
Basic Skills
 Shawna Hellenius has volunteered to go to the Basic Skills meeting on May 11th for an
all day workshop at Sierra College. Any other faculty who are interested are welcome to
attend. Marlo McClurg-MacKinnon? Rhonda Farley?
Unit Planning—Wellsfry
 The dollar amounts are just a ballpark number, so people have some idea for planning,
but it is not a budgetary or allocation document.
 We should be identifying what resources we need to move forward with our plans. There
will be time in the fall to come back and look at it.
 Needs in unit plans should reflect faculty needs, so make sure that we get involved.
 Although the form won’t change, it won’t drive how much money is spent on various
needs. It should just be a planning document that allows people to look forward.
R-7135 – C. Abrams
 Language change proposed by EPIC Committee to allow students to earn credit for an
AP/IB exam score. This will allow it to be added to the transcript.
 Theresa Aldredge is collecting feedback if you wish to send in your comments.
TO DO:
 Ask Marlo McClurg-MacKinnon? Rhonda Farley if they are interested or available for
Basic Skills meeting on May 11th.
