Salford City Council - Record of Decision I Councillor Peter Connor , Lead Member for Housing, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Paragraph J (a) (i), of the Scheme of Delegation of the Council do hereby approve bringing forward the proposed block improvements to the 83-105 and 111-121 Great Cheetham Street West, Higher Broughton, together with the invitation of tenders to undertake the works. . The Reasons are the works are a vital element of the proposed actions to improve the area as detailed in the Broughton Renewal Area Declaration Report 2006. Options considered and rejected were take no action. Assessment of Risk The Broughton Renewal Area lies between 3 high profile developments within the wider Broughton Area; The Higher Broughton Partnership, Lower Broughton Regeneration area and the Albert Park Development. Delivery of this scheme is considered necessary to: help ensure that conditions within the area do not undermine regeneration initiatives that are already underway both in the immediate neighbourhood and in the wider area. help ensure that investment in the neighbourhood and the wider area realises its true value. help minimise migration into the adjacent development areas and avoid a possible destabilisation of the area.
