DETAILS:
The recently completed master plan for Albert Park identified the need to improve the condition
of a significant percentage of the footpaths within the park.
Concerns regarding the footpaths have also been expressed by various community forums
including the Friends of Albert Park, East Salford Community Committee, Broughton Renewal
Area Group & Broughton Environment Task Group.
In order to create a quality path system to DDA standard within the park it is necessary to
refurbish approximately 2,300 m2 of pathway including the creation of a new path link from the
car park to the all weather pitch changing rooms (appendix 1)
Minute 361.0 of the Lead Member for Environment’s meeting held on 22nd September 08
approved the allocation of £83,000 from the 2008/9 capital programme to this project.
As part of the Partnership arrangement for the procurement of engineering works an estimate
for £83,000 to undertake this work has been received from Urban Vision
The improved footpaths at Albert Park in conjunction with an agreement with the Broughton
Trust to allow users of the Park to use the toilet facilities within the all weather pitch building will
provide equality of access and ensure that Albert Park achieves District standard.
