Report on the current position of monitoring capital expenditure against the capital programme and any approved/recommended changes to the programme. Items arising from the monitoring reports will be picked up with Directorates at subsequent meetings. 4th April 2005 The monitoring reports are suspended this month as there is little value in measuring 1months data Following last months report outlining the details of the Gershon efficiency review Scrutiny announced by the Government in 2004, the completed Annual Efficiency Statement Members is submitted for the Committees consideration. John Spink A report was presented to the Lead Member for Customer and Support Services and discussed at a meeting; the committee’s recommendations were accepted. Future items to be incorporated into the Workplan There is a special meeting to discuss Scrutiny Work programmes on the 24th May; following this specific items for this committee consideration will be added to the work programme. Members requested that the required reports to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister would come to this committee for consideration prior to the deadlines. Strategic Director John Spink A report on performance against the risks identified in last years risk assessment – this is covered in the regular quarterly assessment and many of the risks have disappeared but an overall look would useful. The results of the study in budget consultation by the representative of Centre Marc Bloch, Berlin who attended a number of Salford’s meetings Progress on the actions taken to identify the city councils overall training costs. Scrutiny Members Reports on the progress of issues and the financial impact on the City Council such as; The Gershon Efficiency Review – Education Funding – Balance of Funding Review – Local Area Agreements – As these areas develop, reports will be programmed in to the Workplan. A look at the recent work of the committee and a look at the forthcoming year June Following consideration in December a report, which will outline the costs and benefits to the City Council of the restructure of Communications and Marketing, will come before the committee in Nov / Dec 2005 Members referred to cabinet, the need for a clear consistent policy on the use of agency staff.
