PUBLIC VOICE ON POLICING REVIEW

SUMMARY
1.1
Members of this Scrutiny Committee will be aware that following a review of
Police and Community Consultative Group (PCCG’s) meetings, Greater
Manchester Police Authority introduced the new style of public consultation
meetings, Public Voice on Policing, on 1st April 2001.
1.2
The purpose of this report is to update this Scrutiny Committee on the 12month review Greater Manchester Police Authority are undertaking of the
Public Voice on Policing meetings process.

THAT Members views on this report are requested.

DETAILS
3.1
Greater Manchester Police Authority are to undertake a review of the Public
Voice on Policing meeting process. The review process is to include amongst
other consultation the following:
A questionnaire to be sent to all Members on Public Voice on Policing
mailing lists which will include all local councillors. This is to be
distributed by 11th March 2002 with the findings being collated by 1st
April 2002.

Consultation with Crime and Disorder Partnerships at the meeting of
Community Safety Managers meeting to be held in March 2002.

A one-day workshop for Police Authority Members to be held in April
2002.
