An application has been received for an outdoor Entertainment Licence
From Tuesday 26thAugust to Friday 29th August for the siting of a festival
and big top to be situated at Peel Park, Broughton.
The Message Trust, the leading partners in this event, are a Christian
Charity who work with youths across the city. Greater Manchester
Police are partnering the event to reduce crime and make communities
safer. Meetings have been taking place once a month with
representatives of the Council to provide support and advice.
10,000 young people (aged 14 to 25) who belong to church youth
groups across the UK, Europe and America have been invited to
Manchester to express their faith by undertaking social, environmental
and crime reducing projects. The 10,000 will be camping on a huge
‘Tent City’ in Heaton Park and will be transported daily to four sites in
North, South, East and West Manchester, 2500 persons to each site.
The West Manchester Site is Peel Park in Broughton.
The 2500 destined for Salford will arrive by coach staggered between
9.00am to 11.00am alighting on Walness Lane. The Young people will
all be involved in a motivational morning meeting from 11.00am to
12.15pm, this meeting will involve music and singing although not at
high volumes. It is not open to the general public. During the day the
young people will disperse from the site to undertake community
projects which have been designed by the Greater Manchester Police,
Local Churches, Local Residents Groups and other community minded
organisations.
In the evenings a public concert will taking place, for which this
application for an occasional entertainments licence has been submitted.
It will run from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. A significant number of vouchers for
free entry will be distributed to local children and families.
No alcohol is permitted on site and nor will those under the influence of
alcohol or any other intoxicating substances be allowed on site.
Site security will be provided, and stewards will be deployed throughout
the site.
Under the legislation of the Local Government (Miscellaneous
Provisions) Act 1982, the applicants wishes to request a waiver of the
fee for this entertainment licence, as the event is of a charitable nature
and no profit shall be made.

have been received.
