TO HAVE OVERSIGHT AND SCRUTINY OF

All the function of the council as an education authority under the relevant
acts.
Functions insofar as they relate to the provision of opportunities for
education, training and learning outside the school environment including
pre-school, adult and community learning.
Functions in relation to leisure, arts, sports and recreational activities to
enhance the quality of life for local people.
The provision and management of museums, art galleries, theatres, archives
and local history, libraries, leisure centres, swimming pools, parks and open
space, allotments and other such facilities.
The development of the Councils Annual Library Plan, Education
Development Plan and Early Years Development Plan.
To consider performance against plans, review policy,Best Value Reviews
and monitor action plans in respect of the matters within its function.
