INTRODUCTION
It is the aspiration of the School Provider Arm to provide support mechanism for schools,
enabling as many schools as possible to become a provider of the service and so contribute to
a self-sustaining model.
3.
SERVICES YOU WILL RECEIVE
All schools purchasing the SLA will receive one place at the following training sessions at no
charge. Further places are available for a charge.
 Raise Online
 Ofsted Updates
 Leading Teaching and Learning from the middle – taster session
 NQT training
 Improving rates of progress of the more able to increase A/A* grades in Maths
 Subject specific training to support the delivery of lessons consistently good or better
delivered by the TEN Centre Consultants

ADDITIONAL OFFER
The School Provider Arm will undertake a brokerage service to support the distribution of best
practice within Salford. Where there is capacity this will also be offered to education settings
outside of Salford.
The additional offer will provide support and guidance on a range of issues, supporting school
improvement, which can be tailored to your schools needs. This support is available to SPA
members at a supplementary charge.

QUALITY ASSURANCE AND STANDARDS
We will make sure that the following standards of service are delivered:
 Training will be provided by individuals/groups specialising in the topic
Where schools purchase additional services:
 Support will be provided by individuals/schools recognised as demonstrating excellent
practice in the specific area.
 Excellent practice will be judged from an external source where possible eg, Ofsted,
NLE, LLE, SLE. Where this isn’t possible providers will be judged as demonstrating
excellent practice by an appropriate LA officer in the first instance.
 The scope and content of any support will be agreed with individual schools; providers
and the Service Manager at the commencement of all work undertaken and will be
reviewed on completion.
 The Service Manager will undertake a regular review of the performance of all providers.
All work will be quality assured by the Service Manager who will ensure that failings by
the provider are suitably addressed.
 Schools will be provided with a schedule identifying the support to be delivered and the
delivery timescales.

SCHOOL RESPONSIBILITIES
In order for the Quality Assurance standards to be achieved we need you to:





Agree a schedule of support with the Service Manager.
Provide all relevant information such as Ofsted Reports, Performance Management
Data, and Departmental Review information to support the agreed programme of work.
Provide access to school staff as required.
Provide feedback on the effectiveness of the work undertaken.
PROVIDERS
Schools noted as Outstanding by Ofsted in their most recent inspection will be able to provide
support to other schools. In addition schools will need to meet the standards outlined below;
 The Headteacher, who is a National Leader (or Local Leader) in Education, will have a
proven track record for supporting other schools in improving and further developing
 To work with schools near or below the floor standard then the supporting school should
have a consistent track record of being significantly above the floor standard over the last
three years
 To work with schools which have KS2-4 progression issues in either English or
mathematics then the supporting school(s) should have a track record of being above the
median in relation to this measure.
We will look to source this support from Salford Schools where possible. Support will be
commissioned by the School Provider Arm
In order for standards to be achieved we need you to:




Agree with the Service Manager the level of support (days) you are able to offer.
Commit to delivering the agreed days of support.
Undertake all work in a professional manner maintaining the confidentiality of the
customer at all times.
CHARGES
The charge for the period 1st April 2013 to 31st March 2014 for Salford Maintained School will be
£500.
9.
IF THINGS GO WRONG
We are committed to delivering the highest possible service to ensure that schools are able to
work together to provide our young people with the best possible outcomes.
All work will be quality assured but we recognise that things sometimes go wrong. In the first
instance please discuss this with the Service Manager who should be able to deal with your
concerns.
