Student Development Specialist III Purpose Purpose: To oversee comprehensive leadership programs that assist students in understanding, utilizing and learning campus resources and opportunities to enable student success. Responsible for determining student needs, establishing priorities and directing programs in the overall area of student life. Essential Functions Function 1: Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the FLOC (Freshman Leaders on Campus) program, specifically training and advising individual student advisors and their planning committees for year-long activities including leadership trainings, Holiday Extravaganza, Dr. Seuss? Birthday, and Faculty Food-for-Thought in addition to thematic programming centralized around one social justice issue. 30 % Time Function 2: Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the UTA HOSTS! (Helping Other Students To Success) Peer to Peer Mentoring program, specifically training and advising individual student directors that oversees the initial matching process coordination, planning and implementation of peer mentoring socials and events. Also ensuring quality recruitment and training of mentees and mentors throughout the year at the appropriate timeframes 20 % Time Function 3: Develop, implement and teach curriculum for the EDAD 1130 - Foundations of Leadership course specifically geared towards first-year and second-year students to provide the personal and professional skills and knowledge to enable academic and personal success. 20 % Time Function 4: Develop the sophomore year experience program and work closely with the Leadership Learning Community at the Heights on Pecan complex. 10 % Time Function 5: Supervise a Graduate Assistant and oversee their work on Leadership Center programs and advising involvement with student programs, organizations or supervision of students. 10 % Time Function 6: Help Associate Director and Director execute other major Leadership Center events including the Fall Leadership Retreat, Certified Leaders Institutes, and Leadership Recognition Ceremony. 5 % Time Function 7: Work with different on-campus administrators and faculty for external communication for oncampus involvement in programs and courses. Establish relationships with non-profit agencies for community service opportunities for students. 5 % Time Function 8: % Time Marginal/Incidental Functions Marginal/Incidental Functions: Other functions as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Educational Leadership, College Student Personnel or Student Affairs Administration, or other degree related to student development. 3 years of experience advising or working with student organizations with leadership, mentoring or community service focus. Prior experience with planning and implementing events from small-scale to large-scale in scope, including marketing, logistics and evaluation of program. Effective oral and written communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal relationship skills with an ability to work with a variety of people, especially students and community partners. Must have a strong customer service orientation and motivation to obtain high quality results that exceed expectations. Ability to work in a dynamic, deadline-driven and fast paced office environment.
