THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT ARLINGTON ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL (NON-TEACHING) JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Assistant Vice President for Campus Operations and Facilities CODE: 0303 FUNCTION: Assist the Vice President for Administration and Campus Operations on many administrative matters and special projects, and provide the administrative and management oversight for the Office of Facilities Management. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide advice and assistance to the Vice President for Administration and Campus Operations on a variety of matters to include; strategic planning initiatives, capital improvement plan and capital budget, risk management and the campus master plan. Responsible for the principle planning, budgeting and management for all existing & proposed facilities and infrastructure on the campus including new construction & renovation, preventive, corrective and deferred building maintenance & housekeeping. Organize and direct facility activities to ensure compliance with University, U.T. System, State and Federal guidelines, responsible for designing and executing an effective system of internal controls. Provide assurance that assets are safeguarded, financial information is reliable, and operational efficiencies are achieved and maintained. Responsible for preparing and implementing a Unit Effectiveness Plan with strict adherence to the University Strategic Plan. Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance. Ensure department and division operations are effective and efficient, department and division assets are safeguarded, department and division information is reliable, and complies with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. ACCOUNTABILITY REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS REPORTS TO: VP for Finance and Campus Operations SUPERVISION: INTERNAL CONTROL: Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to standard office conditions; Position requires extended hours (daily), and a moderate amount of travel. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business, or related field. Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible work experience in facilities management, campus operations, or related field. High ethical values. Excellent leadership skills. Ability to organize and direct major work activities and administrative operations. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Extensive knowledge in the principles of facilities management and college/university operations. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, and/or Business. Previous management and administrative experience at a public university. Proven experience developing strategies that resulted in significant operational efficiencies. Excellent computer skills.
