Library Assistant III Purpose Purpose: The Stacks Manager is primarily responsible for providing quality stacks management service. Must be strongly customer orientated. Provides leadership and fosters a team environment to the stacks management team. Has knowledge of overall library services as well as user activities in the library. Essential Functions Function 1: 20 percent-Provides shelving services including prompt pick up and accurate re-shelving of materials, accurate signage, and planning. Also implements shifts in the collection to accommodate growth and transfers. 20 % Time Function 2: 5 percent - Assists in developing policies and procedures for the unit. 3 percent-Create and monitor procedures for stacks management. 5 percent-Attends meetings and serves on committees. 13 % Time Function 3: 5 percent- Gathers data and writes reports related to Stacks Management. 5 percent -Hires, trains and supervises student employees. 10 percent -Maintains payroll and employment records for all employees. 20 % Time Function 4: 5 percent -Publishes daily, monthly, and annual statistics. 3 percent -Continually shifts and shelf reads the active High Demand Collection and the reserve area. 8 % Time Function 5: 5 percent -Maintain weekly and monthly reports and coordinates the searching of materials identified as missing, withdrawn, etc. 3 percent- Chooses and processes materials for New Book collection. 5 percent-Manages the High Demand Collection and works closely with Acquisitions on this collection. 13 % Time Function 6: 5 percent-Knowledge of Voyager cataloging to assist with Sdocs, LCD transfers, periodicals, withdrawn items and correct problem materials found during inventory. 5 % Time Function 7: 2 percent- Run Access reports for ?Missing in transit? for all branches. 2 percent-Identifies materials in need of repair or conservation. 2 percent-Interacts with faculty, staff, students and other university departments on a daily basis. 6 % Time Function 8: May be required to work some weeknight, weekend and holiday hours. Identify materials to be withdrawn and process accordingly. Work closely with the librarians for materials from our collection to be transferred or withdrawn. Backup the Reserves supervisor, Interlibrary Loan lending, Graduate Retrieval service, Faculty Resource Delivery Staff and Library Collection Depository staff. Responsible for training on the use of shelflister, conducts inventory for all branches of the library. 15 % Time Marginal/Incidental Functions Marginal/Incidental Functions: Other functions as assigned. Share in the circulation rotation. Qualifications Required Qualifications: High School graduation or equivalent. Required qualifications include. Six years of library or related experience, including three years of Library Assistant III level. A Bachelor?s degree substitutes for two years of required experience. Sixty credit hours of college substitutes for one year of experience. Must pass spelling test administered by the Office of Human Resources Management and Development. Related experience includes performing functions which involve data interpretation, information provision, customer service, data input, problem resolution, and a variety of complex clerical procedures. These duties may have been performed in a library setting, office setting, or other appropriate setting. Must have ability to work in a team environment. Must have computing skills, preferably beyond core competencies and problem resolution skills. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrate good judgment and problem resolution skills. Has supervisory experience. Good communication skills. Project management skills and an ability to manage and work as part of a team. Demonstrate use of technology. Customer service experience.
