ART EDUCATION INTERN
The Mural Arts Program’s Art Education Department partners with a diverse group of schools,
social service agencies, nonprofit and municipal organizations to provide free innovative art
programming for young people.
The Art Education internship provides learning opportunities and on-the-job experience to an
undergraduate student with an interest in the arts, art education, and/or non-profit
administration. This is an unpaid internship, available for college credit. Hours: Flexible 10-15
hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The intern’s primary responsibility is to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Art
Education Department. Interns interested in developing their management abilities will learn
skills in non-profit administration, as well as assist with recruitment, resources, research, special
projects, events, and activities that help promote the department. Other duties may be assigned
based on specific areas of interest and departmental needs.
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, able to work in a fast-paced work environment, organized,
and able to successfully execute both administrative and research-oriented projects. Candidate
also needs to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with Art Education staff,
participants, and partners.
BENEFITS
Training: The intern will gain valuable experience in art education and non-profit administration
from a nationally recognized community arts organization. Interns are trained and supervised by
Mural Arts staff and, when possible, have interaction with Teaching Artists and students.
Career Support: Interns have the opportunity to gain valuable professional references from the
Mural Arts Program staff.
Hands-On Involvement: Interns will have the opportunity to accompany Program Managers on
site visits to observe our Teaching Artists at work and assist with department and organization
events.
