Form Revised July 2013
The plan is to hike 5 days and have one day to explore cultural areas, like the Escalante
Petrified Forest. It is a 4 hour trip from Las Vegas to town of Escalante; in case any
luggage is late in arrival, we will drive to Zion, stay 3 nights there, do 2 days of hiking
and continue to Bryce, do a hike/drive, and continue to Escalante. Stay for 3 nights, hike
and discover.
We plan to stay in Springdale near Zion, and in Escalante, use motel accomodations,
with breakfast included. In Escalante we have to buy our breakfast at Circle D motel We
plan on returning to Las Vegas on Saturday for a Sunday departure.
Breakfast to be taken at the motel, lunch bagged, dinner out. There should not be any
additional meals for leaders needed. If possible, we buy our own lunch fixings on the
way for Zion and Escalante.
We will rent SUVs/4 whell drive, in order to accomplish riding on tough roads in the
Escalante Wilderness area, most likely gravel. Will get latest information from
Ranger/BLM before departure. Read and talked with those who have been there.
Will leaders be drivers?
Will volunteer participants be drivers?
If so, MVR checks will be needed. See Appendix S1.
