Dinners will be a mix of all together and smaller groups. There will be a welcome dinner the second night at the Banff Springs Hotel in Banff . Lake Louise has far less to offer for meals and a bit harder with a larger group. We'll arrange for some group dinners at the Lake Louise Hostel and the Peyto Cafe. Grocery Stores: Both towns have them, although the Safeway in Banff is far bigger than the small grocery store in Lake Louise. However, both offer plenty of options for lunches (make own trail lunches) and the hostels have fridges and kitchens to prepare the food. We'll buy the group sandwich bags, saran wrap, etc for everyone to use. The hostels also offer bagged lunches, but they are expensive. We will fly into Calgary International Airport. On our last day we will be in Lake Louise, which is a two-hour drive from the airport. We will rent two mini vans, and a car. We are learning about the efforts to preserve wildlife and maintain the ecological balance via controlled forest burns, and fences to protect wildlife from vehicular traffic.. We are also learning about identifying numerous trees, plants and animals along the trails, finding some that were the same as in New England and some that were different.
