Trip will be based in Ambleside and feature day hiking, 6-12 miles per day, a
combination of fell walking and peaks. We will use public bus transportation to reach
trail heads.
Day 1 - Arrive Windermere train station, bus to Ambleside
Day 2-6 - day hikes and overnight in Ambleside
Day 7 - bus to Windermere train station
Optional extension
Day 7 - bus to Wasdale head
Day 8-10 chance to climb Scafell, tallest in England and surrounding peaks.
Day 11 - taxi to Seascale train station
Some participants may want to stay on in Ambleside for sightseeing and we can assist
with this.
Stay in B&B's in Ambleside and either B&B or hotel in Wasdale Head. Likely will
have to split between 2 B&Bs in Ambleside.
Hearty English breakfast every morning. Lunches can either be in local pubs or
purchased at the B&B for a picnic on the trail. Dinners at local pubs or restaurants. The

Train from the airport to the Lakes District and return. London, Manchester and
Glascow are all possible airports. Manchester is closest and has a direct rail link to
Windermere. We will organize a meeting spot at Manchester for those flying into
Manchester. Participants will buy their train tickets individually and we will assist with
schedules and ticket suggestions. We will buy a 7 day bus pass for each participant.
Ambleside is 5 miles from Windermere and is a central location with direct bus service
to a number of mountain valleys
