Please see attached itinerary. There are a total of 5 hiking days with 1 rest day where cultural visits are offered.. Utilization of local hotels (2-3 star rating), in the center of the hiking areas we are visiting. Rooming is twin based and some single rooms available. All rooms have ensuite facilities and are established inns designed for hiking groups. All breakfasts are included, a picnic lunch is provided on all 5 hiking days which participants are expected to carry. Dinners (4) in total are included - including a welcome and farewell dinner. Beverages are not supplied with dinners. We use a local, private bus transfer with licensed driver for the most part. On a maximum 3 occasions, we may utilize the local buses between villages to take us to/from trail head and/or local visits to historic sites if time permits. Will leaders be drivers? Participants will be screened with application process, phone calls, contacting past trip leaders. The participants must be able to demonstrate that they can hike for 4-5 hours per day. A guideline for hiking abilities will be supplied with the prospectus so participants can rate themselves. France has minimal crime other than petty crime. Recent terrorism has been a concern in Paris and some random acts in larger centers of the country. Response Participants will be cautioned against pick pockets and other petty thieves. We also advise people to stay away from group gatherings, demonstrations and police riot movements. The areas where we will be hiking are established hiking trails in a popular winter/summer resort. We will rarely be more than an hour from either a ski lift, hutte, alm or village where help can be obtained/organized. Each hike is a day hike, thus we will obtain local assisatance if needed. This region of France has a high standard of medical facilities even in the rural areas. From our core hiking area, the nearest large health centers are Avion, Aix en Provence, Marseille and Arles. Here one may also find international private clinics and surgeries.
