where Havasu Canyon is located. Trails are clearly marked to reservation. As far as,
Red Rock Canyon, leader visited there on Utah trip and found the hiking within 17 miles
of Vegas and very interesting.

We will spend 2 days hiking and exploring Red Rock Canyon in Nevada, possibly
scrambling the rocks if the group would like to do that. We will then drive to Hualapai
Hilltop splitting the ride by spending a night in Peach Springs Arizona at the Grand
Canyon Cavern. The next morning we drive 65 miles of unserviced road to Hualapai
Hilltop to stay for 2 nights/3 days in the Havasu Canyon. One day to hike down, one day
to explore the waterfalls and one day to hike back up to Hualapai Hilltop. We will then
stay one more night in Peach Springs before we drive back to Las Vegas and hike for an
additonal day before we catch our afternoon flight home.
Our first two nights will be at the Imperial Palace in Vegas. The next night will be in the
town of Peach Springs at the Grand Canyon Caverns. After we hike down the canyon,
the next two nights will be at the Havasupai Indian Reservation. We then will spend a
night night back in Peach Springs before our drive back to Vegas where we can hike the
afternoon and spend the night at the Imperial Palace before we catch afternoon flights
home.
Food will be bought so trippers can make their own lunches while hiking Red Rock
Canyon. Breakfasts and dinners will be at a nearby restaurant. Breakfasts and dinners
will be provided at the Grand Canyon Caverns and Havasupai Indian Reservation. We
will carry roll-ups and energy bars for lunches while we are in the canyon. Rumor has it
that the lunches are not very good at the reservation.

A Red Rock Canyon Pass, of $10, is required on all vehicles entering Red Rock Caverns.
This can be purchased at the entrance to the canyon.
For Havasupai Indian Reservation, a $39/person entrance fee/tax is required. Also a
$5/person environmental care fee is required.

Extreme climate differential between the rim and floor of the Canyon. Vegas
temperature may be extremely hot at this time of year, but the average is 70 degrees.
Trip is planned in late autumn to minimize the climate extreme inherent to summer
weather. Participants will be required to carry adequate hydration.

The drive from Peach Springs to Hualapai Hills is 65 miles of non-serviced road.
We will be have to make sure that everyone has lunch, the vehicles are filled with gas.
Level of fitness, screening concerns, experience with equipment or activity
Hiking requires solid intermediate hiking skills and seasonal conditioning. Water is not
available on the trail to the Havasupai Indian Reservation.
Applicants will be screened for hiking experience and fitness level. We have to be
prepared with two quarts of water for the hike down. We can get water at the Indian
Reservation for our ascent back up the Havasu Canyon.
Conditions unique to this type of trip
Toenails falling off because feet keep hitting hiking shoes.
Recommend everyone cuts their toenails very short to prevent loss of nails.

As far as the Havasupai Reservation, we have to make sure the trippers know that
hospital facilities for serious medical problems may be a long way away, that a doctor
may not always be available, and that evacuation can be prolonged, difficult, and
expensive. The trip covers evacuation costs, but it will still be difficult.

Imperial Palace doesn't require a deposit.
Caverns Inn doesn’t require a deposit.
Havasupai Indian Reservation requires $40/room/night, so that would be $80/person and
that is already reserved with a deposit.
Havasupai Indian Reservation if cancellation is 2 weeks prior to arrival.
Initial Deposit - $750 due by July 8, 2011
August 8, 2011 - $1000
After September 8th, the cost of the trip is $1950
Cancellation must be in writing - Postmarked date below:
Cancellations prior to September 1st will be entitled to a refund on money deposited with
the AMC less a minimum administration charge of $100.
After September 1 - All moneys returned except:
a) same as above; and
b) Any moneys paid out to vendors and money necessary to keep the trip cost from
increasing - causing an increase for other trip members (example: having to pay for a
double room for a single person).
Full refund will be made if trip does not go.
After September 1 - NO REFUNDS for any reason, including accident, illness, or any
other type of emergency.
Note: Sometimes additional moneys may be returned at a later date, if a cancellee’s spot
can be filled from the waiting list. This depends upon two factors:
1. That the trip is filled - 12 participants (in addition to the leaders).
2. That there is a waiting list. The list is compiled by leaders through the application/
screening process only. No one may substitute another person for themselves.
