Our first day will be travel to reach the South Rim. We will spend 4 full days hiking and
exploring the Grand Canyon. Hike Day 1 will explore the South Rim with an expert
naturalist from the Grand Canyon Field Institute; Hike Day 2 we will descend Kaibab
Trail to the floor, Hike Day 3 we will explore the floor on Clear Creek Trail, and Hike
Day 4 we will ascend back to the South Rim on Bright Angel Trail.
South Rim lodging while at Rim (2 nights at beginning of trip, 1 night after ascent hike),
2 nights at Phantom Ranch on Canyon floor, 1 night at a Phoenix airport hotel.

Trip is planned in mid-late autumn to avoid the climate extreme inherent to summer
weather at the canyon. Participants will be required to carry adequate hydration. The
Grand Canyon is a high altitude dessert. Participants will be instructed prior to the trip to
consider this in their preparation an training. The first day at the Canyon will be a mild
hike to allow time to acclimitize.
