Executive summary
Please provide a brief
description of the trip and the
activities planned.
Fly commercial airline from Boston/New York to Zurich, Switzerland. Take trains to
Zermatt utilizing SWISS PASS purchased in USA prior to departure. Stay at 3 star Hotel
Silvana in Furi, a small village above Zermatt.Leaders will lead a strong intermediate to
advanced hike each day. Splendid mountain views and varied terrain make for some of
the best day hiking in the world. First few days' hikes are at lower levels for
acclimatization. Then we take cable cars to start higher. All hikes are on well marked
trails which are maintained by Zermatt, but have steep dropoffs in many places. One day
we'll hike with a Swiss guide across the Gorner glacier to the Monte Rosa hut for lunch,
and then back to hotel.Another day we will hike to the Hornli hutte(weather permitting)
which is at the base of the Matterhorn from which the technical climbers begin their
ascent of the Matterhorn. A day hike up the Trift gorge is also planned.Return to Zurich
by train on Friday, stay overnight in a hotel near the airport. Depart for Boston and New
York on Tuesday July 20th. Leader will be meeting participants at Zurich airport upon
arrival as I will already be in Europe due to preceeding Major Excursion to Neustift
Austria. Co leader will be traveling from Boston with some of the participants. By doing
this we will be able to reduce airfare costs for the leader and coleader. There will
however be the cost of train fare from Munich to Zurich as well as overnight
accomodations in Zurich for the leader prior to the start of the second ME.

$1450 final payment due May 1st, 2010
If you cancel after being accepted for the trip, $50 is non-refundable, but if you cancel
after March 1st, 2010, minimally $500 is nonrefundable, if (and only if) another person
