trips). If you do not have the required level of certification at the time you submit your proposal or it will expire before
the date of your trip, you will need to make arrangements to recertify in a timely manner.

Executive summary
Please provide a brief
description of the trip and the
activities planned.
The trip stays at The Nature Place Ranch in the Rocky Mountains, one hour west of
Colorado Springs. The itinerary includes hiking to the Florissant Fossil Beds National
Monument, Fish Creek, Quick's Homestead and Horseshoe Mountain. Hikes are
moderate and 4-5 hours long. Evenings include slide shows of "Local Geology of
Central Colorado", "Nepal-It's mountains and Culture", and an evening campfire and
outdoor bar-b-que. We will hike areas around the mountain area of The Nature Place
and The Nature Place will provide transportation to these areas. Hikes will range from
scenic walks to 8 mile/day hikes.

Included in the price of the trip is the use of a Sportsplex which has an indoor swimming
pool, sauna, jacuzzi, execise room, volleyball court, putting green, horseshoe pits and
outdoor tennis court.

Additional activities are available at the ranch that people on the trip may participate in
for an additional fee, such as horseback riding, mountain biking, and astronomy &
telescope presentation.
The lodging is double occupancy in studio apartments
All meals are buffet style provided by The Nature Place including full breakfasts,
lunches and dinners, as well as, plenty of choices for vegetarians.

hiked in the past and will be able to do 5 hours/day of hiking.

This trip visits some very beautiful areas of Colorado. The canyons, deserts, arches,
bridges, and the various natural formations are great areas to hike. We will also
encourage conservation by staying on trails and not feeding animals, but hopefully being
able to view wildlife.

Continental Airline requires a $400 deposit/person with ticketing 30 days prior to
departure date and cancellation 45-90 days prior to departure date for a full refund.

The Nature Place requires 60 day in advance notice. If cancellation prior to 60 days no
money is lost.
Initial Deposit - $350
April 1, 2009 - $500
May 1, 2009 - 1000 + airfare
If you cancel after being accepted for the trip, $100 is non-refundable, but if you cancel
after May 1, 2009, minimally $300 is non-refundable, if (and only if) another person
takes your place. We will establish a waiting list. Should another person replace you,
you will be charged only the $300 cancellation fee. However, your cancellation shall not
raise the cost of the trip to any of the participants or the leaders. Thus, if you cancel and
are not replaced, you will forfeit the $300 plus the per capita expenses already incurred
and any other unpaid per capita expenses for which the trip cannot obtain a refund. We
strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance; information on a company
recommended by AMC will be sent to you.
