A variety of scenic day hikes are selected to provide a cross section of the natural beauty
of the Canadian Rockies from Canmore to Banff, YoHo and Jasper Parks: high mountain
passes, glacier formation and melt down, huge lakes surrounded by snow covered
mountain peaks, major mountain lookouts, flowering alpine meadows, extraordinary
waterfalls
We use tw0 hostels and two hotels to reach prime destinations; one primative, one deluxe

In addition to study of glaciers, we hike alpine meadows and name wild flowers. We
often spot wildlife; deer, elk, big horned sheep, mountain goats, marmots and some times
moose or bears. We visit exhibits in Banff, Lake Louise, Icefield Interpretive Centers

bear is sighted. We carry bear spray, we check trail status and stay away from trails

Trails are well marked. We should be able to walk less than 5 miles to a road or trail
head if patient is ambulatory.
There is a community health center across from our hostel in Lake Louise and a large
modern, community hospital in Banff 403 762 2222 and in Jasper, Jasper Hospital 780
