LOGISTICAL DETAILS OF TRIP

We provide a series of varied day hikes from Canmore South of Banff to Jasper using the

120 mile Icefield Parkway as the main route of travel. Notable hikes are selected in the three major parks with greatest concentration in tha Lake Louise area where the hiking is exceptional. Emphasis in placed on visiting glaciers and studying their formation and deterioation. All hikes include remarkable views of mountains, lakes, alpine meadows.

We use three strategically located hostels, one is primative and one is deluxe. Accommodations

In addition to study of glaciers, we hike in alpind meadows ablaze with wild flowers that we identify, we often spot wildlife: deer, elk, wolves, marmots, osprey, big horn sheep, mountain goats, occassionally bear and moose. We visit park visitor centers in Banff,

Lake Louise, Ice Field Parkway and Jasper.

Bears---we conduct training in staying toether, the #1 strategy foravoiding contact,we make noise, we carry pepper spray as required by Park rules and train several members to use it.

We use vans/large SUVs with have full insurance and rotate drivers on longer trips.

Most of the roads are paved and in good condition.

Trails are well marked and maintained. I n most instances we hike within 5 miles of paved or well maintained dirt roads.

There is community health mini center across the street from the Lake Louise Hostel where we stay. Community hospitals are located in Banff (Mineral Springs) 403 762
