Iowa Administrative Code of Rules Chapter 21-60.4(163) Registration of exhibitions involving poultry. For the
purposes of this rule, poultry includes egg-type chickens, meat-type chickens, turkeys, domestic waterfowl, domestic game
birds, and exhibition poultry. All exhibitions which include the exhibition of poultry must be registered and approved by the
State Veterinarian at least thirty days prior to the exhibition.
60.4(l) All poultry exhibitions, shows or sales must have a licensed accredited veterinarian inspect all poultry on the
premises the day of the activity. All poultry showing signs of any contagious disease will be removed from the premises
immediately.
60.4(2) All poultry present at exhibitions, shows or sales must come from U.S. Pullorum- Typhoid clean or equivalent
flocks, or have had a negative Pullorum- Typhoid test within 90 days of the event and the test must have been performed by
an authorized tester.
60.4(3) Sales of poultry will not be allowed at unregulated facilities or event, such as flea markets, swap meets, etc., unless
such facilities or events have been registered and approved by the State Veterinarian at least thirty days prior to the event.
National Poultry Improvement Plan: The Iowa Administrative Code Chapter 21--60.2(168) requires all hatchery
license applicants to participate in Iowa's National Poultry Improvement Plan.

Iowa Code, Section 168.2 reads, in part, ''Every person engaged in the business of custom hatching,
producing baby chicks for sale in this state, or of selling or offering for sale baby chicks from any
place located in this state shall obtain a license from the department for each establishment at which
said business is conducted .... each license shall expire on July I after date of issue.
