Attention Clover Kids Parents Today we did the following: Learned that for every action there’s a reaction Followed directions making a 2 Liter Bottle Rocket and film canister rocket Develop self-understanding through working in teams Launched our team’s bottle rocket and our own film canister rocket Ask your child: What did you enjoy most ? What did they learn about rockets? What surprised you by doing the experiments? What we covered – Air is all around us and the layer surrounding our earth is called atmosphere. It has so much substance that it can hold up aircraft the size of a school bus through lift. Air is essential for the flight of airplanes and jets. Wingless Rockets rely on an engine that through the force of gas leaving the engine provides an equal and opposite force lifting the rocket skyward. Design of rockets include Fins. Rockets are stabilized by the effects of air movement on their fins which function as controls. The best measures of rocket performance are altitude (how high) and velocity (how fast). The film canister rocket was powered by effervescent antacid tablets. Dig Deeper with Your ChildIowa State University’s 4-H and Youth Program has a special department called ESET.
