be provided to the teacher)
-
Each day students will be required to check on the progress of their stocks
as their “Please Do Now”.(Monday – Friday)
-
One day of each week will be spent discussing the progression or regression
of the stock portfolios with classmates and teacher.(Friday)
4. Please note: Students will not be graded on whether or not they gain or lose money.
Students will be graded based upon learned knowledge of their companies, the stock
market, and daily and weekly participation in stock activities and discussions in the
classroom.
Goal of Project:
The goal of this project is to give students an in depth look at the financial structure of
our country in a time when companies have been cutting back, downsizing, consolidating, or
shutting down. Through the use of the stock market the students will be able to discuss the
“ups” and “downs” on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. This project will give students an
awareness that they might not have had before beginning the project. The newfound
awareness will be in the successes of investing wisely because of diligent research or in the
pitfalls of investing in an unstable or risky company.
Resources:
1. Computers
2. Newspapers (USA Today, Standard Speaker, Times Leader, Times News, Washington
Post, Wall Street Journal)
3. Web Sites (MSN Money, Fox News, CNN, USA Today, MSNBC)

Please remember that you don’t have to “play it safe” all of the time. You may take
some risks. In fact, I would like to see some people go out on a limb and try some new
companies. You are not being graded on your success or failure. You are being graded
on your diligence throughout the duration of the project.
