Marriage is always not a key point in Amy Tan’s book. We cannot find a clear
relationship between leading roles and their husband or boyfriend. However, we can
find out that men can sometimes be a torture for women, and sometime they are
solace of spirit for women, although men are always subordinate roles.

know that Precious Auntie had her own thinking about marriage. Second, LuLing
always thought that she was cursed since Precious Auntie suicided, so she always
worry about that she deserved to be happy.
