Use of Assessment Results: Based on the results, all SLO’s fell within the effectiveness standards for the
persuasive speech. It should be noted that although all fell within the effectiveness standards, there is
one area that need to be emphasized for improvement. It is the use of evidence in the speech. This was
the lowest areas last year too. However there was an increase in the use of evidence area from 73% to
80% falling in the excellent or good areas. The faculty had incorporated a new unit in the curriculum and
additional time was placed on research. After discussion, the faculty felt that the increased emphasis
had made a difference in the students understanding the research process. The faculty agreed that
continued exercises in research should be the emphasis for 2013.
