their jobs today.

She just came down here to greet me on my first day. We knew each other
from college.

Well, someone has to look after him.

Ha ha, that’s very thoughtful of you, Clair.
Clair.
Matt:

Clair:
That, too, of course. But I have to go now, it’s about time and I haven’t
punched the clock yet. Good luck on your first day, Joseph. I’ll see you
guys around.
Joseph,

Matt:

Peter:
Let’s go Joe. First of all, here’s your company ID card. It doubles as key
card. Our department is on the seventh and eighth floor and you need to
swipe the card in the elevator in order to press those buttons. Access to
any department above the fourth floor is strictly employees-only. The rec
room and gym are on the fifth floor and the staff restaurant on third.
Peter:
Joseph:
Joseph:
Is the food in that restaurant any good?
Peter:
Peter:
I’ll say it’s “okay”! We eat there sometimes because there’s no time to go
out for lunch.
Joseph:
Joseph:
Wow, I guess the workload gets pretty heavy around here.
Peter:
It varies according to the schedule, which is set on a project-oriented basis.
It enables us to take a break and get a breather between projects. But when
it’s rough, it gets really rough.

Peter:
Peter:
What time do we come in or get off work?
The official working hour is ten to six. People working in other
departments have to punch the clock when they come and leave. But our
department takes the matter with a more liberal approach. We don’t have
to punch clocks. We get to work around our own schedules as long as we
get the takes done.
Do you mean we get to come and go whenever we want to?
Don’t get too excited, that’s not really as much fun as it might sound.
Keep in mind that the most important thing is to get the job done. So good
time management is crucial.
