Summer Housing Staff Application Department of Housing and Residence Life Overview: Thank you for your interest in the Summer Housing Staff position. Summer Housing Staff plays an integral role in: ensuring that the administrative processes run smoothly for the buildings providing quality customer service to residents We will be hiring a total of ten positions We are excited about this summer and the opportunities available for staff and residents alike. Summer Housing Staff Position Responsibilities/Duties: Prepare housing facilities (Kennedy) for use; inspect rooms; conduct damage assessments; complete Apartment Condition Reports (ACRs); initiate work orders; prepare keys and check-in / -out packets; post signs. Conduct resident check-in / -out processes according to established procedures; distribute/collect key packets, ACRs, and other materials; explain policies and procedures, answer questions; note missing keys; reset common areas or other spaces to original configuration, etc. On specific, designated dates (see below), there will be large-scale check-in / -out events, during which time Summer Housing Staff will staff check-in / -out stations; on other occasions, Summer Housing Staff may conduct check-ins / -outs individually and after-hours. Serve in a weekly on-duty rotation with the other Summer Housing Staff between the hours of 4:00 PM – 9:00 AM Monday – Friday and 24 hours Saturday and Sunday. Conduct nightly rounds as directed by supervisor. Provide assistance and conflict resolution for residents. Complete incident reports and activity logs as needed. Office hours within the Housing Office and Kennedy Residence Hall Reside (i.e. live and sleep) in assigned hall and provide assistance to residents as requested. Perform other tasks in support of Housing and Residence Life as assigned. Some basic physical requirements include but are not limited to: standing or sitting in one location for an extended period of time, walking from various points on campus frequently during a given work shift, being able to move and/or carry large items such as tables, chairs, linen bundles, etc. Work Schedule: Evening and weekend hours are required. On-duty rotation is on a weekly basis with each staff member having an average of 3 weeks of duty over the course of the summer Tentative Check-in days: Saturday, May 14th – Sunday, May 15th and Saturday, June 25th – Sunday, June 26th Tentative Check-out days: Friday, June 24th – Sunday, June 26th and Saturday, August 6th – Sunday, August 7th Other commitments (other jobs, volunteering, vacation or travel, etc.) must be secondary to this position. If recurrent conflicts arise, employment with GU is subject to termination. Employment Period: Tuesday May 10th– Friday, August 26th 2016; however, persons who will serve on the 2016-17 Residence Life staff will be released to attend fall training. Time off may be granted; however, opportunities for time off during check-in and check-out times may be limited. Requests must be submitted 2 weeks in advance. There is a mandatory training session tentatively scheduled for Tuesday May 10th & 11th, 2016. Compensation: A single occupancy apartment room (minimum) for duration of employment as a Summer Housing Staff. As with most non-faculty positions at Gonzaga, Summer Resident Assistants are employed at will. It is important to note that it will be taken in consideration that individuals who will be RA’s for the 2016-2017 academic year, would have overlapping responsibilities during RA training and thus are at a disadvantage when applying for the Summer Housing Staff position.
