Graduation ceremony is the end of one story and the beginning of a new chapter. It
is when we bid farewell to teachers and fellow classmates; it is when we prepare our
hearts to welcome a new world. It is when we step into the turning point of our lives,
bringing along with us the cheers and blessings from others. Just like when birds fly
away from their nests, like when lion cubs catch their first prey, on a graduation
ceremony, we leap out, we soar on high, to fly and catch the fruit of success.
Thanksgiving is an important part of a graduation ceremony. First, students should
thank their teachers for all the efforts they have made. Students can write a card or
sing a song to their teachers. They can even act out a drama imitating each teacher’s
teaching style, to show their care for the students and the students’ gratefulness to
them. Next, graduates should thank each other. Having being classmates for a period
of time, misunderstandings may occur, and graduation is a time to end conflicts and to
give each other a smile. After all, it is a time when everything is new. Graduates can
share their memories in school, encourage one another, and watch photos taken during
the past years together. Last but not least, graduates should thank their parents. After
receiving their diploma, they can hand it over to their parents and give them a big hug,
telling them, “Thank you for raising me up. Now I have graduated!”
Just like when young birds first fly away from their nests, or like when lion cubs catch
their first prey, a graduation ceremony is the time when we soar on high or leap out to
catch the fruit of success. (NOTE that the two “whens” should be compared to “a
graduation, not to “we.”)

To be honest, I hate the way the topic confines you to certain range and scope. That’s
killing everyone’s individuality and creativity.

1. List all the sentence expressions that you believe you are 100% sure. Mail them to

A. How to use infinitive phrases as noun phrases, adjective phrases, and adverbial
phrases;
B. How to use gerunds;
C. How to use a participial phrase at the beginning of a sentence to describe the
subject of the main clause;
D. How to use relative clauses either to define a noun or to add information to a
noun;
E. How to use appositive to describe a noun
F. How to use that-clauses as a subject, an object, an adjective, and an appositive.
4. Find some concrete verbs for some such general verbs as get, make, have, let, etc.
