John: I have to write a report! If the phone keeps ringing off the hook all day , I’m going to be here
all night. Don’t ring～

Caller 1: Yes, I’d like to speak with Randall Peters, please.

John: One moment, please. I’ll transfer you. Now, if Mr. Telephone will just stop～
約翰：請稍等。現在我將幫您轉接。假如電話將只是停止~

Caller 2: Hi, I’m trying to reach Wendy Jenkins.

John: Ms. Jenkins is not in at the moment. May I take a message?
約翰：Ms. Jenkins現在不在。請問需要我幫你留訊息給她嗎?
Caller 2: Yes, tall her that Arnold Thomas called.

Wendy: Uh, no(Pulling the phone from under her papers)Hello. Wendy Jenkins here.

John: Hi, Wendy. You had a few calls while you were out.
約翰：嗨，溫蒂。當妳出去的時候妳有幾通電話。
Wendy: I hate the telephone. Who called?
溫蒂: 我討厭電話。誰打的?
John: Arnold Thomas called at twelve-twenty, and at twelve twenty-three, Frank Cooper called.
約翰: 12點20分阿諾德湯瑪斯打來，以及12點23分法蘭克庫珀來電。
Wendy: Did Frank say what he wanted?
溫蒂： 請問Frank有說他需要什麼嗎??
John: No, I’m afraid he didn’t.
約翰: 我想他應該沒說。
Wendy: Thank you, John(hanging up)I hate the telephone. OK, I’ll call Frank first.(Dialing)

Wendy: Hi, Frank. This is Wendy returning your call.

Frank: Oh, great. Listen, can we do coffee today? I’d like to go over a proposal with you A.S.A.P.

Wendy: Sorry. I’m going to tied up all day, Frank. I’ll have to take a rain check(She hangs up)

Frank: That’s too bad. I was going to tell her about our new voice mail system. It would free her up
from the phone so that she could get more work done. Oh, well. I guess Wendy likes to
talk on the phone.

Narrator: Frank Cooper is Liveville International’s technical support manager. Today, he is trying to
set up a meeting with John.

Frank: Hi, John. Frank Cooper here. I need to get some information. Are you free now?

John: Now? No! We’ll have to arrange a meeting. Have you look at your schedule and call me back.

John: This morning? Let me see…Nope. I’m busy this morning. How about lunchtime?
約翰：今天早上? 讓我看看…不。我今天早上很忙。午餐時間如何?
Frank: No, I have a luncheon today.
法蘭克：沒辦法，我今天有一個午餐會議。
John: Oh, too bad! Maybe another time.
約翰：噢！那太糟了！也許下次吧！
Frank: No, wait! What about this afternoon?

John: This afternoon? Is three o’clock OK?

Frank: Yes, that works for me.

John: Oh, sorry. It doesn’t work for me. I just noticed I have something scheduled.

Frank: I only need five minutes. Couldn’t you squeeze me in sometime today?
