Beitou Hot Spring
Beitou Hot Spring was developed
more than one hundred years ago.It is
surrounded by Shamao Mountain,
Datun Mountain,and Chihsing

Mountain.Ever since the volcanic eruption of Datun
Mountain,profuse heat had generated at the bottom of the
volcano;the heat warmed up the cracks to form the hot
springs.The main bathing areas surround the”Beitou Hot
Spring Park”.

Beitou was discovered in 1894.At
that time,a German sulfur business man
built a hot spring club in Beitou,using
the hot spring resources here.It was

the beginning of the development of Beitou’s
hot springs.In 1896,Japanese business man realized the
high quality of hot springs in Beitou,and believing that
they are of high tourism and commercial values,opened
the“Ten-gu-an”,the first hot spring hotal in Taiwan.

burst(1905),the Japanese
government,deeply believing in
the power of hot springs in curing
any diseases,in protecting their
health,and in the springs’

a “Sanatorium for the Army”.The
hot springs were used for recovery of the wounded
soldiers.
Yangmingshan Hot Spring
Yangmingshan is the backyard of the
Taipei area.Aside from being decorated
with masses of blossoms,its geological
and topographic features include
volcanoes,making it a suitable place for
hot springs.Moreover,due to the hot
spring region is located within the
Yangmingshan National Park
Yangmingshan National Park,its
surrounding areas are absolutely
fascinating.
Yangmingshan Hot Springs can be roughly divided into
four sections:Yangmingshan National Park,Lengshuikeng
, Ma-tsau,and Huogengzihping.The hot springs in
Lengshuikeng are creamy white in color,and the
temperature is at approximately 40℃.Huogengzihping
Hot Spring’s temperature can be as high as 99 ℃.

Aside from the hot springs,the
scenery around Yangmingshan is
also very spectacular,with different
scenes for different seasons.Spring
is the time of year when flowers
bloom in Yangmingshan;the burst
of azalea and cherry blossoms livens
up the whole scene.

Kuantzeling Hot Spring
Kuantzeling Hot Spring is located in Baihe Township,
Tainan County.The hot springs here are made of special
mud.Not only is the only one of its kind in Taiwan,but
also only found in two other place in the world─Italy
and Kagoshima in Japan.The spring water here is an
unusual muddy spring,it is bitter to the taste,and the
water quality has a
velvety feel to it and
smells strongly of sulfur.

Kuantzeling Hot Spring has always been
widely known since the Japanese colonial
rule.It has been known as one of Taiwan’s
four most popular hot springs,along with that
of Beitou,Yangmingshan,and Sihchong River.
After going to the hot mud springs, visitors
can go to other well-known attractions in
Kuantzeling.The scenery at the Fire onWater
is especially out of this world.
Kuantzeling Hot Spring
Baihe is known for its local specialty crops,lotus seeds
are especially widely known.From June to September
of each year,Baihe holds a Lotus Festival.The Lotus
flowers are at their best at 7 in the morning,and start to
close after 8.People who come
to Lotus Festival demands early
participation.
Sihchong River Hot Spring
Sihchong River Hot Spring had been discovered
during the period of Emperor Guangxu of the Ching
Dynasty.In 1950,a village was established,and Sihchong
River was renamed”Hot Spring Village”.It was so named
because of its continuous hot
springs.The hot spring district is
surrounded by mountain ranges.

The spring waters of Sihchong River Hot Spring are of high
quality mineral water.The water is clear and transparent
,and can be used for drinking and bathing.The water is rich
with various minerals,and is especially effective in boosting
blood circulation.Besides,hot spring products such as Hung
Ren salted eggs and preserved
eggs have been said to neutralize
the acidic substances in the
body.
Sihchong River Hot Spring
There are also hot springs on the Hsuhai grasslands.You
can see the Pacific Ocean and Mutan Bay on the grasslands
;this is also an ideal place to see the sun rising from up the
horizon.
