This month I’d like to recognize and thank those parents who go above and beyond to support our students and school activities. Woodside is fortunate to have an active PTO under the leadership of Wendy Sjoberg and the members of the PTO Board (Ani Sagrayn and Shelly Osman). Year after year, the PTO has dedicated itself to coordinating our school fundraisers which provide additional financial support for our students. The PTO has also sponsored many of our family events such as Kid’s Night Out and the Harvest Festival which both have become traditions of Woodside and provide safe and fun activities for our students. In addition to our PTO, I would also like to take this time to thank those who helped with our Annual Attendance Barbeque. Don Purdy, Chris and Jodi Ornelas, Laurie Ablog, Trista Folden, Tracey and Ron Ryan, Callie Rosas, Siriluk Keeler, Darrell Farr, Chris and Thomas Montgomery, Ginger Williams, Kelly Dahmen, Olivia Baker, Mabel Gross, Becky Wilson, Sam Nishimura, Denise Gomez and Kevin Andrew helped serve hotdogs, chips, soda and ice cream to approximately 300 students!!!! I would also like to recognize the large number of parents who also assist in the classroom, volunteer as art docents or who work at home behind the scenes. Thank you all! Great things continue to happen at Woodside. I’d like to personally invite all of you to participate in this year’s Annual Harvest Festival which is scheduled for Saturday, October 24th from 6-8 p.m. The Harvest Festival Committee has been working diligently to plan a fun and exciting event in which students can wear their Halloween costumes, play games and enjoy delicious food. In addition to wearing costumes during the Harvest Festival, this year students will also be able to wear costumes on Friday, October 30th. Please remember that Halloween costumes should not distract or cause a disruption to the learning environment and costumes must follow Woodside’s dress code. Students are prohibited from wearing costumes which include masks, scary make-up, revealing or skimpy clothing. As always, if you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me at school. ☼ Sincerely, Marianne Williams Project Wisdom: Character Focus: October/November “Diversity” Critical Literacy Strategic Planning Year Three Student Safety Corner: Woodside is committed to keeping our students safe.
