To: The SUNY Student Assembly Executive Committee From: President Amyotte and Director Arrowsmith Date: November 11, 2006 Re: Supporting the Faculty Council of Community Colleges inclusion on the SUNY Board of Trustees (Resolution EC0607 – 10) I hereby offer for consideration of the State University of New York Student Assembly Executive Committee the following resolution: Whereas, we appreciate the steps that the New York State Legislature has taken towards the inclusion of the University Faculty Senate on the SUNY Board of Trustees, and Whereas, the Faculty Council of Community Colleges serves as the University Faculty Senate’s peer counterpart at the Community College level within the State University System, and Whereas, the Faculty Council of Community Colleges and the University Faculty Senate have both passed resolutions supporting the Faculty Council’s inclusion on the Board, and Whereas, a wider range of viewpoints on the State University of New York Board of Trustees enriches the educational experience of the 420,000 students that we represent and further promotes the developement of the State University System, therefore be it Resolved, that the SUNY Student Assembly Executive Committee supports the inclusion of the President of the Faculty Council of Community Colleges, as well as the President of the University Faculty Senate, on the SUNY Board of Trustees, and be it further Resolved, that this organization approves of the opinions expressed within the Faculty Council of Community College’s and the University Faculty Senate’s resolutions regarding Board inclusion, FCCC G2-2006 and a “Resolution on Supporting the Addition of the FCCC President to the SUNY Board of Trustees” respectively.
