附加問句：附在平述句之後的小小問句 (tag question)
(A) 一般平述句
1. 附加問句和平述句一定是一正一負，意即一為肯定，一為否定。
You are a student, aren’t you?
He isn’t busy, is he?
He speaks loudly, doesn’t he?
She doesn’t live here any more, does she?
There are a lot of flowers in the garden, aren’t there?
There won’t be enough students in the future, will there?
2. 除了 there is, there are, there was, there were, there will be 之外，附加問句的主詞一定用人稱
代名詞（I, we, you, he, she, it, they）。
Mary is your cousin, isn’t she?
Mr. Brown bought a new car last month, didn’t he?
The United States of America is a big country, isn’t it?
Those boys are playing baseball, aren’t they?
The two pandas（熊貓） have arrived in Taiwan, haven’t they?
3. 附加問句如是否定時，有兩種寫法，一種是把 be 動詞或是助動詞和 not 縮寫，放在主詞
之前；另外一種就是不縮寫，但把 be 動詞或是助動詞放主詞之前，not 放主詞之後，但以
前面的縮寫用法比較常見：
He is at home, isn’t he?
He is at home, is he not?
She can run very fast, can’t she?
She can run very fast, can she not?
縮寫字中的 am 和 not 原本不能縮寫但在這種用法中，如要縮寫，則縮寫成：aren’t 或 ain’t：
I am your brother, aren’t (ain’t) I? 或是 I am your brother, am I not?
I am helping you, aren’t (ain’t) I?
I am helping you, am I not?
4. 平述句的動詞是 be 動詞，則附加問句也用 be 動詞。
There were many people coming to your party, weren’t there?
We are good friends, aren’t we?
John is angry, isn’t he?
He is watching TV, isn’t he?
We were eating dinner when you came back, weren’t we?
Our boss is in the meeting room, isn’t he?
5. 平述句的動詞是一般動詞的現在式，則附加問句用 do 或 does，過去式用 did，未來式則用
will。
He walks to school every day, doesn’t he?
We eat three meals, don’t we?
He drove to work, didn’t he?
She went to school by bus, didn’t she?
We will have a new secretary, won’t we?
He will give you a present for your birthday, won’t he?

6. 平述句有其他助動詞（can, could, shall, should, may, might, must）出現時，則附加問句用其
它助動詞。
You can fix my car, can’t you?
He should be in Taipei, shouldn’t he?
She mayn’t come tomorrow, may she?
It must have rained very hard, mustn’t it?
7. 平述句的動詞如果是完成式時，則附加問句用 have, has 或 had
We have told him the truth, haven’t we?
He has gone to Japan, hasn’t he?
The dinner had begun before they arrived, hadn’t it?
He had been sick for a week when he was sent to hospital, hadn’t he?
7. 平述句如果有否定的字（包括名詞，形容詞以及副詞）出現時，則附加問句一定用肯定。
否定副詞：never, rarely, hardly, seldom, little
否定形容詞：little, few
否定名詞：nothing, nobody, none
I have never seen you before, have I?
He rarely makes the same mistake, does he?
There is hardly any water in the desert, is there?
He seldom talks with his parents, does he?
I little knew he is such a bad boy, did I?
He has few friends, has (does) he?
We earned little money last week, did we?
He has eaten nothing since yesterday, has he?
There is nobody that can answer your question, is there?
8. 附加問句一定以平述句的主要子句為根據：
The man whom you work with is from Africa, isn’t he?
The letter that you sent yesterday must have arrived now, mustn’t it?
The books that I borrowed two weeks ago have already been given back to you, haven’t they?
When I came back last night, you had already slept, hadn’t you?
You said that you would go out with him, didn’t you?
He got very angry because your score was so poor, didn’t he?
9, have, has, had 當「有」解釋時，其附加問句可用 have, has, had 或 do, does, did；
但 have, has, had 如當「吃、喝、玩樂、享受、必須、舉行、或是使役動詞時」等其他解
釋時，其附加問句只能用 do, does, did：
He has three brothers, hasn’t (doesn’t) he?（有）
We have six classes, haven’t (don’t) we?（有）
You had much more money than I did, hadn’t (didn’t) you?（有）
I had breakfast at seven this morning, didn’t I? （吃）
We had much fun at his birthday party, didn’t we?（玩樂）
He has to leave now, doesn’t he?（必須）

They had a meeting last Wednesday, didn’t they?（舉行）
You had a picnic in the park, didn’t you? （舉行）
His mother had him water the plants, didn’t she?（使，讓）
You had a rest five minutes ago, didn’t you? （休息）
We had a good time during our childhood, didn’t we? （玩樂）
9. had better＋v. 或是 had better not＋v. 的附加問句，也要用 had：
You had better stay with me, hadn’t you?
We had better not tell a lie again, had you?
(B) 祈使句的附加問句
只要是對第二人稱的請求或命令的祈使句，不管是肯定或否定一率用 will you?
Take me home, will you?
Please sit beside me, will you?
Don’t make the same mistake again, will you?
Let him take a rest, will you?
Let her go home early, will you?
Don’t hurt my feelings, will you?
Let us play for a while, will you?
Don’t throw the garbage out of the window, will you?
Don’t stay up too late, will you?
Don’t let us leave too late, will you?
我對我們大家的提議或建議（let’s），肯定用 shall we? 否定用 O.K.或 all right?
Let’s go swimming, shall we?
Let’s eat some ice cream, shall we?

如要邀請【對方】第二人稱吃東西時，要用 won’t you?
