Peer Mentor Application, 3
Expectations:

Staff Meetings: You may miss one staff meeting per semester-no exceptions (school clubs or
other commitments are not a valid enough reason to miss a meeting). Staff meetings will be
one hour in length. They will be held every other week unless told otherwise.

Knowing your residents: You may be quizzed on student names, campus resources, and
referral protocol. It is a requirement that you know the names of each student living on
your floor. You will also need to be present in your hall as a resource for your students.

Study Bucks: You will participate in the Peer Mentor study bucks program (handing out
study bucks when appropriate, logging how many you hand out, and overseeing the study
bucks store during your office hours).

Student Programming: You will participate and organize programming events during each
semester. You are required to produce an individual program each semester as well as a
group opening program with the other Peer Mentors.

Academic Honors Reception: You will host a reception for students that have received above
a 3.5 GPA in the past two semesters. This will be hosted in the Hess Rec and is when
Residence Life honors students with snacks and prizes for their hard work and academic
achievement

Traditions Programming: You will participate, and host programming throughout the year
(ex. Starvation Gulch, International Education Week etc). These also include and are not
limited to Residence Life Traditions, such as Freak Week, Sexual Responsibility Week, and
SpringFest.

Office Hours: Held for two weeknight hours, two study hall hours, as well as two to four
additional administrative hours (day-time hours) which will be coordinated with your
supervisors. These will be held during the week.

Early Warning Program: You will be asked to contact and offer additional support to
students that have been identified by the Early Warning Program. You will work with the
Resident Assistant to complete this task.

Additional EDGE programs as assigned (bringing faculty in to talk, study skills sessions, test
taking etc.) in addition to opening week/orientation programming.

Live in the Residence Hall you are assigned, only spending two nights or less/week out of the
building. You are expected to live and interact with students on a daily basis.
