Information Systems Officer
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF TASK(S) AND OBJECTIVES TO BE ACHIEVED
Within the Data Management Team and under the supervision of the Data Management Team Leader, the
consultant will provide expert database administration and integration knowledge and support for
PostgreSQL ad MySQL database technologies. Responsibilities include:















Lead the consolidation and modernization of the corporate MySQL environment;
Lead the consolidation and modernization of the corporate PostgresSQL environment;
Re-architect database environments for increased scalability, availability and resiliency;
Provide support and maintenance for all MySQL and PostgreSQL environments;
Ensure integrity of database backup and recovery processes;
Advise on patches to be installed and write the installation document;
Document housekeeping and operational procedures for supported database environments;
Proactively mentor and share knowledge with rest of the team;
Collaborate with application owners and system administrators to ensure optimal database
performance;
Conduct weekly database performance reviews and make proactive recommendations;
Support and maintain the routine execution of ETL jobs built using Talend Data Integration;
Ensure database and ETL registries are accurate and kept up to date;
Comply with IT division’s Change Management policy;
Timesheets are reported on a daily basis;
Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Academic Qualifications

University degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology or a closely related subject.
Technical Competencies and Experience Requirements
General Requirements:
 Strong hands on experience administering PostgreSQL and MySQL technologies.
 Knowledge of NoSQL technologies highly desirable
 Strong hands on experience analysing, writing and optimizing SQL code
 Hands on experience working across teams and technology stacks to optimize database performance
 Strong experience designing database architectures for increased scalability, availability and resilience
Competencies:

 Ability to manage own time and work effectively individually and as part of team
 Working knowledge of English;
Required technical knowledge, skills and experience:

MySQL(v5.6), PostgreSQL (v9.3)

Strong knowledge of NOSQL technologies including Apache Cassandra
Experience with Talend ETL tools

Write policy, guidelines and clear technical documentation

Payment conditions: the daily honorarium will be paid monthly on when-actually-employed basis and will be defined
depending on relevant qualifications and work experience up to within a range from 150 USD to 280 USD.
Schedule of work: The incumbent will be required to work and be present on the premises during the standard office hours of
the duty station (from 8.30 till 17.00 for HQ), unless otherwise agreed with the supervisor and authorized by CIO-Director.
Absences will need to be coordinated and agreed according to CIO internal rules.
Working time will be reported in the internal timesheet system.
