Job Description
The student intern will contribute to the overall success of fundraising, education and communications efforts of
the Greater Nashville Affiliate of Susan G. Komen. The intern will rotate through each department throughout
the placement.
Responsibilities
 Research and update community calendar listings – such as newspaper sites, radio sites, website, etc.
 Assist with managing the details of direct mail pieces
 Assist in preparing marketing communications
 Assist with maintaining web site and keep current with new events
 Assist with weekly eblasts and monthly e-newsletter
 Help solicit, maintain, and assist Race teams including e-mails to team captains and potential
registrants.
 Assist in creating and preparing Race materials and other marketing collateral
 Attend education and grant meetings to learn what they do
 Attend breast cancer related events such as health fairs and grantee functions
 Prepare materials for health fair tables
 Respond to requests for educational materials
 Research topics as assigned
 Work as part of the Community Profile Team
 Review Quantitative Data Report to help determine areas of highest priority
 Collect/document data for health systems analysis template
 Collect community (qualitative) data using one or a combination of several toolkits provided by
Headquarters
 Provide assistance with the analysis of health systems and community data
 Provide assistance in writing narratives for specific components of the final Community Profile Report
 Organize materials for each component of the profile
 Review documents against submission checklist requirements
 Provide on-site assistance at affiliate events
 While in the office, answer phones and respond to e-mail and phone inquiries
 materials
 Provide office administration support with filing, contracts, invoices, creating administrative binders, etc.
as needed
 Assist the Executive Director or Committees as needed
Skills and Specifications
 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word) and Social Media
 Excellent interpersonal skills
 Clear verbal communication and writing skills
 Ability to adhere to established deadlines

Position Status:
Intern - Unpaid – 2-4 weeks - minimum 20 hrs/wk
