GENERAL MEETING - TUESDAY, Sept. 8 - 1:30 PM

Our season-opening meeting will feature a time to
socialize and enjoy some delicious member-made

we’ll be treated to the now-traditional Program
Committee's entertaining commercials for the exciting
upcoming Term A & B programs and our ever-growing

miss this – anything can happen and probably will!
SEACOAST MEMORIAL LECTURE - Oct. 20 - 1:30 PM
Durham Evangelical Church (upper level)
Pre-eminent futurist Dr. Dennis L. Meadows, Professor
Emeritus of Systems Management at UNH and President
of the Laboratory for Interactive Learning, will discuss
his long-term research on global sustainability and its
future implications. An early environmental icon, Dr.
Meadows made headlines as the leader of an MIT
research team using computer simulation to evaluate
potential effects of post-World-War-II geometric growth.
The resultant celebrated 1972 report, The Limits to
Growth, confirmed the conflict between Earth's physical
capacity and modern human development, and has been
highly influential in awakening and inspiring world
efforts towards a sustainable society.

*YOU ASKED FOR IT – YOU GOT IT!
Program attendees have often remarked that “time to
talk” after programs would be beneficial. Often there
just isn’t time within the allocated 1.5 hour block to
explore important issues raised during the discussion.
We heard you. Programs scheduled for Wednesday
mornings this Fall will be extended ½ hour to offer the
opportunity for further discussion as warranted. Keep
us posted on how this is working for you.

programs to broaden member knowledge and interests,
controversial programs and speakers are not necessarily
reflective of, or endorsed by, the organization. Use of
