Statements
When the sentence you wish to quote is a statement, you put a comma after the introduction you write, put the statement
from the text in quotes, and put the period behind the citation.
Example 1. A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, page 1
The author states, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times” (Dickens 1).
If no author is obvious, the citation should include the name of the text and the page number.
Example 2. Big Ben by Anonymous, page 13
The author states, “As the clock ticked midnight, the ghost disappeared into the mist” (Big Ben 13).
