Unit 12 Assignments: Abnormal Behavior TEST DATE: March 4 Read the chapter and take notes for yourself as you read. Note that this chapter is Modules 65-69. I advise that you read the module, take notes, and complete flashcards for that module. Then answer the questions at the end to quiz yourself and answer the FRQ. These may be taken for a grade! Use the PsychSim and Flip It Videos to aid your understanding. Always be prepared for pop quizzes and brief homework in addition to the practice below. As you read the chapter, be thinking of a type/classification of disorder that interests you. You may choose to research and write on a topic that is not in the text or that is only briefly mentioned (such as hoarding). You will need an angle—what ABOUT the topic are you trying to prove or make a point about to your classmates, other than the fact that it exists (haha)? The paper will be in APA style (don’t worry; I have a template, and you can use citation machine) and you will need to have a well-constructed POSTER presentation on large posterboard. I will give you more details in a separate paper, but essentially, it should be collegiate-quality—no tape showing, not falling apart, no wet glue, not handwritten (unless you’re an artiste, and you are REALLY THAT good), no pencil, not last-minute looking, and not being put together in front of me in class (Yes. This is a thing. Cone of shame-quality stuff). Flashcard Information: Flashcards must be numbered in the top right corner, have your name on the outer card, and be bound with a rubber band. No credit will be given for sandwiched cards, as this is a violation of academic honesty (CHEATING). All unit cards must include Key Contributors/Researchers/Psychologists (see chapter reviews), all bold faced words, and any obvious italicized terminology (do NOT just copy italicized words without reading context; some are italicized only for emphasis). Include key research studies and any stages/chart information (these are heavy on this chapter). Exam Prep Questions (1 grade): Start a section or sheet(s) of paper that are entitled “Exam Prep Questions.” Each day when you are waiting for roll or announcements to finish, you will answer one AP or ACT practice question presented on the Promethean. You should write the ANSWER LETTER and a brief reason/justification for why you have chosen that answer. Discuss the question with your peers as you do with class tests while I take roll. Have a marker handy, and we will briefly check it after roll (hold your intense debates!). Resources Reminder: Please take the time to go to my website at www.biloxischools.net/domain/300 and download the powerpoints and additional handouts. Remember to use your purple 9e study guide and the Myers 2e website. Quizlet and Studyblue are wonderful sources, as well.
