Citations: Please be sure to cite your sources in your paper. Rule of thumb: if you need to look up a piece of information, then it requires a citation. Use APA format for in-text citations and for the reference list. If you list a resource in the reference list, it should have a corresponding citation in your essay. For a great library tool that generates APA-formatted citations and reference list items, check out NoodleTools, available through the library. If you need help using NoodleTools, the librarians are extremely helpful. You can also come by my office during office hours or make an appointment with me. In the meantime, here are some basic instructions: Go to www.northseattle.edu and hold the mouse over the Library tab to show the menu. Under Research Help, click on Citation Tools. Go to the first item, NoodleTools. Create a Personal ID (or, if you have one already, log in). In NoodleTools, do the following: Create a new project Select APA citation style, Advanced level; give the project a title Under Components, select References Select a citation type (book, journal, magazine, etc.) and Create Citation Enter information pertaining to resource (author, title, publisher, etc.). When complete, click submit. At the right of your newly-generated reference, you can click on In-text Citation, which will show you what an APA-formatted in-text citation for the resource should look like.
