You must sign up to take the ESL placement test at the Admissions and Registration office. You must
come in person. You cannot send someone to do this for you. The test is necessary for us to know your
ESL level. The test is free. It usually takes about three hours. There are usually two or three tests
offered each month, sometimes in the morning, or sometimes in the afternoon.
If you are a total beginner in English you will be placed into level one and given an orientation letter by
the Admissions and Registration staff. No test is required for level one students. (Level one students
skip to Step 4).
Step 2: When it is your scheduled time to take the ESL placement test, go to the NSCC Testing Center.
