Sound Notes
John, here are a few notes about the sound cues as of 2/21. I am ripping discs for
the run tonight and I haven’t had a chance to listen to all these, but some things
will need to change.
1 – the cue for the top of the show has to be separate from the preshow music.
We can’t time a 27 minute cue that precisely. Create a cue that is just music and
another that is preshow announcement and top of show music.
- Brian’s voice clips a lot – please pull the volume back on that cue
- Start the music under the end of Brian’s speech so that it smoothly
transitions into the top of show music
- I think different music for the top of the show would be good too.
Something with a crescendo at the end so that there is a button to the top
of the show.
9 – start the music under the end of the cattle prod so there is a smooth
transition
23, 48, etc. – I don’t think this interrogation music is going to be strong enough.
These cues need to mark the end of scenes and the beginning of others and they
need to be loud enough to distract the audience during the physical transitions on
stage. We’ll see tonight, but I think we’ll want something more aggressive.
45 – I love the beginning of this cue, but intermission is sure to go longer than 9
minutes. We need more music in here.
51 – This cue is missing – the transition between scene 12 & 13. This is the one I
emailed you about – the second seals cue – that should start just like cue 7.
73 – cut the first 5 seconds of this so that it starts with the words, then fade to a
MUCH lower sound level so it can play under her speech.
Curtain Call cue is not here – I think you’re only ½ done with it?
