National Geographic Report/
A Different Extended Reading Assignment
As discussed in class, for the next three weeks of this quarter, you have an option to
replace your National Geographic Report with another extended reading assignment
if you wish.
If you don’t want to read any more National Geographic articles, you have the option
to find other high-level articles of a similar length from another newspaper or
magazine and write a one-paragraph-summary and one-paragraph-response to that.
Approved publications:
The Seattle Times, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, The Washington Post,
Time Magazine, Newsweek Magazine, The Economist or another publication of your
choice. If choosing your own publication, you must show the article to me the
Thursday in advance to get approval.
Word requirement for the article you choose (in any publication—from the
above list or your own):
750-1000 words
Requirements:
 Print your article from your approved publication
 Write a one-paragraph summary and a one-paragraph response, same as
from the original National Geographic Assignment.
If you want to continue reading National Geographic cover stories and NOT
choose an article from a new publication, you can do that, too.
