Every day I watch and listen to see how well you are learning. SPEAK ONLY ENGLISH
IN CLASS. Listen when other students or the teacher are talking. Work politely and
respectfully with your classmates.
Homework:
It is your responsibility to prepare for class and do your homework. When you miss
class, ask a classmate for the homework. Be sure to ask me for handouts.
Chapter Tests:
You will have four tests, one about every two weeks. I will announce the test dates in
class.
* How your final grade will be calculated:
For a passing grade, you must have an average of at least 75% in each area below:

TOTAL= 100%
**Performance Tasks:
There will be “performance tasks”, also called “PTs”. These help us see your progress in English. You will show
how well you write by completing a writing assignment in class.
The grades for PTs are :
4= Excellent, 3= Good (passing grades)
2= Developing, 1= Beginning (NOT passing grades)
Please do your best to come to class on test days!
If you do not take a test or do a task, you will get a 0% for that test or task.
Please tell me ahead of time if you know that you will be absent. You will do the test on the day you come back
to school. You must make an appointment to do the test at my office if necessary.

General College Policies and Rules
 Smoking is allowed ONLY where there are signs saying it is OK. Please do not smoke in stairwells or near
classroom doors.
 Before you come into the classroom, PLEASE turn off your cell phone. You cannot talk on your cell phone
in the library or the LOFT either.
 Perfumes make some people very sick. The college asks everyone (teachers and students) not to wear
perfume or cologne to class. Please be kind and follow this policy so that everyone will be able to study.
